Deponents for plaintiffs: Robert Shawe of Bonsall, yeoman, aged 67, whose memory goes back 'always' [to 1557], deposed that Winster was always part of the manor or wapentake of the High Peak and the inhabitants have always done suit at the High Peak court. Part of the Winster pasture lands, called Winster Bank and Long Torr, were enclosed 30 years ago out of the wastes and commons [100 acres] by the freeholders and their undertenants. The enclosed land has since been purchased by Halley and others; John Hopkinson of Bonsall, yeoman, aged 65, whose memory goes back 'always' [to 1559]; Anthony Cadman of Bonsall, yeoman, aged 63, whose memory goes back 50 years [to 1574].
