Defendants: William Woodcocke, Barber and Shore.
Documents: depositions concerning demesne lands and a corn mill in Edale and Castleton, Derbyshire.
Taken 15 April, 10 James I.
Deponents for defendants: Robert Hall of Whytmorelexbooth, in Edale, husbandman, aged 63, whose memory goes back 40 years [to 1573], deposed that the inhabitants of Edale have exercised choice when grinding corn using mills outside Castleton at Hope, Fairfield and Edale; Raphe Purglove of Heafield, labourer, aged 76, whose memory goes back 60 years [to 1553], lived in Edale 40 years ago and left 20 years ago [1573-1593]; Thomas Kirk of Shereokes, yeoman, aged 63; Ellis Hall of Edale, husbandman, aged 62; Ellis Barber of Edale, husbandman, aged 70; John Barber senior of Edale, yeoman, aged 54.
