Documents: depositions (originally with plan) concerning Penwortham and Hutton, Lancashire. Commission dated 8 May 1571, requiring map to be made to show ancient meres and bounds of the manors, and commissioners' return. Also a map of the manors of Penwortham, Howick and Hutton (south-west of Preston), showing the White Moss between the manors. Shows the River Ribble from Penwortham to Hutton and the areas to the south as far as Bretherton and Leyland. Neighbouring places indicated: Much Hoole and Little Hoole, Ulnes Walton, Walton le Dale, Farrington. Also shows highway around White Moss, bridges, ditches; fields, open and enclosed; church and post mill at Penwortham, and houses in simple elevation; 'hell holes' in marsh between Penwortham and Hutton.
