- SP 81/1-4 and SP 81/5, ff 1-238B (July 1577-July 1589) are (mostly) described in calendar form in the Calendar of State Papers, Foreign Series, of the Reign of Elizabeth I, edited by Arthur John Butler, Sophie Crawford Lomas and Richard Bruce Wernham (London, 1901-1950). The List and Analysis of State Papers, Foreign Series, Elizabeth I, I-VI, edited by Richard Bruce Wernham (London, 1964-1993), contains references to the more important papers in this class for the period August 1589 to December 1595.
