Washington Claims Commission. Re seizure of the barque "Hiawatha" by the U.S.Federal Government at the outbreak of the Civil War in 1861. Claim of Mr.A.M.Edwards on behalf of his father, Mr. Charles Edwards dec'd. for legal fees due to the latter who hadacted on behalf of the British Consulate New York and also the British owners of the ship and cargo. He obtained £32,000 compensation.
