De Souza, Anthony and Walter. The de Souza family were a great banking firm in Calcutta, Madras and Bombay. Anthony de Souza, by his Will dated 29 August 1797, created a large number of charitable trusts in India, mostly of ecclesiastical or educational character, which became the subject of an Inquiry directed by the High Court in July 1904. So far as is known some of the charities are still in force. Present: A long and carefully prepared pedigree of the de Souza family.
