Description

Chirograph indented, dated 8 July, 18 Edward IV, between Dame Elizabeth Yorke, widow; Thomas Wyndesore, esquire, William Yorke, gentleman, John Mathewe, citizen and mercer of London, and Robert Rypon, executors of the will of William Yorke, esquire, of the one part, and John Yorke, esquire, William's son and heir, of the other part, witnessing that out of 1,000l. bequeathed by William for the purchase of lands for John and the heirs of his body, with remainder to William, John's brother, the executors have paid 560 marks to Sir Richard Darell, knight, for the manor of Est Sutton, co. Kent, and the site of a mill called 'Okeley,' co. Sussex, and 40l. to John, to the intent that he shall 'espie and gete' the other lands. English. Seal. Endorsements in English:—(1) Bond, dated 5 March, by John Yorke, to the said executors, for the performance of the terms of the above indenture. (2) Note of the purchase of lands called 'Strange- bones,' co. Wilts, from Thomas Precy, for the sum of 47l. (3) Note of the payment to John York of 160l. for the purchase of lands. (4) Bond for 50 marks by the said John to purchase lands with 50 marks delivered to him 12 February, 7 Henry VII. Bond, dated 12 February, 7 Henry VII, by John York to expend 50 marks, delivered to him, in the purchase of land.
