Indenture witnessing that whereas Henry Partrych, Roger Dalham, and Percyvall have leased to Alexander Barton lands and tenements in the parish of St. Mary's, Halwistowe, in the hundred of Hoo, which had belonged to Stephen de Dalham, for eight years from Michaelmas 49 Edward [III], grandfather of the present king, paying 10 marks yearly and the rent being 31l.13s.4d. in arrears, and action of debt having been brought against Alexander and the lands recovered etc, as herein stated, they nevertheless grant to the said Alexander that he may hold the lands peaceably till the end of the term aforesaid, and then they will give to him and to Joan his wife estate and feoffment in all the premises, for which Alexander shall pay 20l: [Kent.] Dated: [1-6 Richard II.]
