John, son of John Beauchamp del Holte: file of documents relating to the inheritance by John, son of John Beauchamp del Holte, and Joan his wife, daughter and heir of Robert le Fitzwith, of the manors of Holt (Worcs.), South Weston, Wigginton, and Ardley(Oxon). Bubbenhall, Barnacle (Bernangre) [in Bulkington], and Shoteswell (Worc.), which lands were taken into the king's hands owing to the attainder of John the father, 11 Ric II, and placed in the ward of the earl of Warwick. The file consists of copies of the following documents:- (1) and (2) fine Michs. 49 Edw III between Richard de la Felde, parson of St.Michael on Cornhill, London, and two other feoffees, querents, and John Beauchamp, and Joan his wife, deforciants, concerning the premises; (3) writ of cerciorari, 2 June 11 Ric II touching the forfeiture decreed in parliament against Beauchamp; (4) and inquisition on Joan's lands; (5) writ, 29 July 12 Ric II, to the escheator of co. Warwick, to take an inquisition on the lands of John Beauchamp (the father); (6) petitions of John, son of John de Beauchamp of Holt, knight, who should inherit the premises, and of Thomas de Beauchamp, earl of Warwick, for writs ordering an inquisition on the lands of the said John the father; with memorandum that at the council held at Oxford on Tuesday after the feast of St. John, 12 Ric II, the said earl presented these petitions, and that the writs were granted; (7) (attached to (6)) - a deed of William de Beauchamp concerning the manor of Holt (and perhaps the other premises), largely illegible; (8) petition of John Beauchamp the son, for return of lands forfeited by his father; (9) two deeds of Warin de Vernun by assent of Hawys his wife, and Warin his first born son, granting Bubbenhall to William de Vernun, his son; (10) inquisition taken before the escheator in the county of Oxford on Joan, daughter and heir of Robert le Fitzwith, wife of John Beauchamp del Holte, 27 Aug. 12 Ric II (?): Worcs., Oxon., Warw
