This series consists of letters written to various members of the Entomology Department, with carbon copies of their replies. The chief recipients represented are Robert Bernard Benson and John Frederick Perkins of the Hymenoptera Section, Alfred George Gabriel of Lepidoptera, and Hugh Scott of Coleoptera. The series is an artificial one, having been assembled by the Librarian about 1975 from various parts of the Department. It included correspondence of a number of unofficial workers and donors to the collections, including T Bainbrigge-Fletcher, Donisthorpe, H T Stainton and Lord Walsingham, until these were returned to the Entomology Library in 1993.
Series held at The Natural History Museum are catalogued more fully in its online catalogue (reference DF ENT/304). Online descriptions of some individual records can also be viewed on Discovery, see DF 304.
