This series consists of annual reports of progress of the British Museum (Natural History) Department of Mineralogy.
Many of the reports are drafts or office copies of papers submitted to the Director of Trustees, either for publication, (piece 1), internal circulation, (pieces 4, 6-8), or for reference (pieces 2-3). Top copies of these papers were all held in the Trustees and Directorate papers. Other papers were prepared for the Keeper for his own use within the Department, (pieces 5, 9-10).
