Description

Known as the 'White Volumes', these are collections of correspondence, reports, notes, etc of the Board of Customs and its successor the Board of Customs and Excise on particular revenue duties or policy matters including legislation. They were kept for reference in the office of the private secretary to the chairman of the board. They contain copies as well as original records.

Pieces are arranged in rough chronological order, though this order appears to be based more on the date when the piece terminated than when it commenced. Most of the pieces have former references which were probably originally shelf references.
