Description

These papers of the Board of Excise and the Board of Inland Revenue contain personal details of successful examinees, together with an oath of office and subsequent certificate of qualification and proficiency. They cover appointments to positions in England, Scotland and Wales.

It seems that this series is incomplete, although it is not possible to determine how much is missing. With the exception of a few papers relating to the Irish Revenue Police in CUST 116/41 there are no papers for men appointed to the Excise in Ireland.
