This series contains records of the Irish Revenue Board and Irish Boards of Customs. Comprises salary books, 1764 to 1808, including the salaries of revenue staff, each volume with an alphabetical index of names, and establishment books, 1684 to 1826, giving names and salaries of staff employed in Custom House, Dublin. There are also registers of officers' appointments, 1761 to 1823, and a volume listing Irish revenue commissioners 1682 to 1755, and detailing the civil and military establishment in 1750, involving French and military pensioners.
It was thought when the first 55 pieces were transferred, in the latter half of the 19th century, that they were all that had survived from these series. Subsequently earlier material was located and was transferred as CUST 20/56-161. The list has been re-arranged to integrate the two transfers in chronological order within the above categories.
