Description

Short title: Holt v Greenhalgh.

Plaintiffs: William Holt esq of Grays F3933Inn.

Defendants: John Greenhalgh esq of Brandleholme, JP, Mary Greenhalgh his wife, late the wife of Richard Holt, Henry Jones his servant, Mary Ashton late the wife of Sir Richard Ashton kt, Ralph Ashton their son, Samuel Bamford, Anne Bamford his wife, Henry Dunster, and others, servants of the said John Greenhalgh, John Hardman, and others, late servants of the said Robert Holte, Roger Holte, Hugh Rigby, John Hardman of Heywood, yeoman, and others.

Subject: Procuring a will from Robert Holt of Ashworth, father of plaintiff William Holt and grandfather of the said Richard Holt, Mary Ashton, Anne Bamford, and the last named Robert Holt, when no longer of sound mind, disposing of the manor of Ashworth, and messuage and land there and in Cheesden, Marcroftiate [Marcroft Gate], Spotland, Wolstenholme, Butterworth, (lands in Rochdale and Bamford also being mentioned), and procuring a petition to the Court of Wards to bestow on them the wardship of Richard Holt son of the said Richard Holt; forcible entry, seizure of goods, and damage to hay and cattle in Ashworth, rescue of distress, pulling down buildings, procuring an indictment for detention of dower, etc.
