Description

Short title: Barnard v Yorke.

Plaintiffs: John Barnard gent of Shepton Mallett.

Defendants: James Yorke alias James Francke, steward or deputy-steward of the manor of Chewton, William Butcher, John Gilberte, John Scriptor or Scripture, William Mitchell alias William Horledge, John Bakehouse, William Dale, and others.

Subject: Claims to a 'pitch, geible (gribbe), or grooffe' of lead ore in the manor of Chewton, placing disqualified persons on the mineral juries, maintaining claims to neighbouring 'grooffes', etc.

Somerset.

Note: Much information is given about the mining law of the forest of Mendip.
