Arrangement
When this series was being prepared for transfer to the Public Record Office it was intended that the files should be placed in alphabetical order of county and in numerical order under each county. Files were thus given the CRES numbers in straight numerical order. However, it was later decided that, to facilitate research, files should also be placed additionally in alphabetical order of parishes under each county, and files were rearranged into this order thereby changing the straight numerical sequence.
