Approaches to the problem of Anti-Semitism in the 1930s. Includes suggestions from Sir John Simon, the Home Secretary, accounts of individual incidents and instructions to the Metropolitan Police. There is extensive discussion of whether or not the police could prosecute individuals for common assault without the victim pressing charges. The seriousness of the situation is evident in a memo from the Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police urging the officers to 'Err on the side of action rather than inaction' in regard to Jew-baiting and inflammatory speeches.
