Description

These constat books were used by the Surveyor General of Land Revenues for the entry of proceedings by him and others relating to the leasing out of Crown lands, between the restoration of Charles II in 1660 and 1851.The books contain entries in full of petitions and memorials, reports to the Treasury, Treasury warrants directing the drawing up of constats, the constats themselves, and other documents, sometimes including plans and extracts of inclosure awards, relating to the administration of the hereditary estates of the Crown and the collection of the revenues. The constat books proper were discontinued in 1851 but a series of volumes containing extracts from inclosure awards up to 1918 has been added to the series.
