Description

Entry books recording the issue of judgments in the Court of Common Pleas, chronologically by term.

They were created for the purpose of recording the fees due. The series began in 1838 to replace earlier series of special judgment books (from 1803) and common judgment books (from 1802), which were discontinued in 1837. Almost all the cases for which entries appear are actions of debt. Each entry gives the names of the plaintiff, defendant and attorney, and the amount of the debt.
