Books of memoranda kept by the secondaries for the prothonotaries of the Court of Common Pleas until 1837, when both kinds of office were abolished; thereafter they were kept for the newly created masters of the court, and came to be called remembrance rolls of rules.
Their purpose was to record rules (orders) of court, which were not technically records of the court and so were not recorded on the plea rolls. Common rules, made without any motion in court, and special rules, which were moved in court, are recorded in separate sections until 1837.
