Award made by the priors of Lancaster and Cartmel (Kertmel), in puusuance of a mandate (recited) from the Pope's Legate to them directed, in a dispute between the abbot and convent of Furness, and Robert Murdac, Vicar of Clapham, touching the payment of tithes due to the church of Clpham, by the monks of Funess, from their grange of Newby and from half a carucate of land which they had of the gift of Helias de Stivetun in Clapham. Witnesses: John, abbot of Fountains, John, prior of St Andrew's, in York, T., prior of Conished (Kuningesheved), Nicholas, dean of Lancaster, Johm, parson of Kyrkebi in Lonesdale, Mater J. de Ripun, R., parson of the church of Gairegraive, Thomas, the clerk, and Geoffrey Prince. At Fountains (Fontes), on the eve of the Assumption of the Virgin (14 August).
