Defendants: John Russell alias Angell, Edward Stevens, Richard Maynarde yeoman, John Walcott, George Huton, Bartholomew Romesey, Daniel Poste, Moses Poste, George Marchant, Henry Tryme, Thomas Kenworth, Alexander Muddell, Samuel Muddell and Edward Welles, all of Buxted or late of Buxted, and John Holdeley the younger, Edward Holdeley the younger, Thomas Barton all of Rotherfield, and John Bense of Mayfield, and John Marchant, Nicholas Stocker, James Bonicke, Goddard Crittenden, Stephen Funnell, Peter [?Cooke] and Alexander Middellton and others, about 40 in total.
County: Sussex.
Subject: riotously breaking down of a bridge over the river [Uck ?], thus stopping the way used to transport charcoal from Buxted wood to the plaintiff's [iron ore] Old Land furnace at Buxted, and his forges in Ashurst, Hartfield and Withyham (Grubsbares forge), and forcible removal of 12 loads of charcoal and 112 cords of wood from Buxted wood, and violent assault on and injury to William Growte collier [charcoal burner], the plaintiff's servant there, over 2-3 August 1591.
