Subject: The disputed devise of land by Lewis, late abbot of Strata Marcella, called Gwaen Nant yr Eira, in the parish of Llanerfyl, which had been conveyed to John Grey, esq, with reversion to the abbot. Upon the dissolution of the monasteries it reversed to King Henry VIll, who granted it for ever to Sir Arthur Darcy; he sold the land to William Cowper, esq, who sold it to Nicholas Purcell, esq, who finally sold it to Owen ap John ap Howell Vaughan, esq, and John [?Howell] Vaughan is his son and heir; riotous assembly, forcible entry, and assaults upon John [?Howell] Vaughan and his tenant. [Dispute extends also to lands called Howen Bach Maestran.].
