Subject: securing his appointment as justice of the peace and deputy-lieutenant for his own enrichment; levying £1000 for armour and converting the 'coat and conduct money' to his own use; threatening men with musters and refusing to make account to the commissioners appointed to enquire into the buying and selling of armour; as justice of the peace, accepting bribes for commutation of sentences and failing to return recognizances; malfeasance.
