Regnal year: 29 Eliz I. Case report, taken from Star Chamber Reports, BL Harley MS 2143, ed K. J. Kesselring (List and Index Society, Special Series 57, 2018): [309] Jarvis, plaintiff; Churchman et al: for forgery, the cause brought to hearing super confessionem, but the court upon the hearing of the cause finding that Churchman, the principal defendant, had denied the forgery, ordered the plaintiff to reply and to examine his witnesses and that after publication the cause should be again heard and ordered Churchman should enter bond with sureties to be at the hearing or in default thereof the plaintiff to produce his witnesses to the bar viva voce whereupon the court would proceed to judgement, and the proceeding by commission to stay in the meantime.. Easter 26 Elizabeth fo. 343. [641] Gervase, plaintiff; Churchman: for forging of 2 obligations which by the court were ordered to be cancelled and the defendant judged as the statute of 5 Elizabeth appointeth..
