This series contains minutes, circulated papers for meetings and other papers of various National Coal Board committees and sub-committees which operated at divisional level.

The series was built up as a body of important papers which needed to be accessioned speedily for reference, mainly for litigation purposes.

The series is artificial in that the records that make it up have been brought together after they passed out of active use.
