AD (S) to C on BP views on SOE action against land-lines and cables of Sicily, Sardinia and S Italy May 22; list of all GAF low-grade codes with persons in AS responsible for processing, AS case for increase of cover at Capel; policy on visits by ETOUSA officers to BP, ETOUSA to receive AS Weekly W/T I Report; paper by Lt Col Pritchard at BP on intelligence value of GP intercept and need for additional cover, proposal to transfer experienced GP analysts from Shenley to Kedleston and Beaumanor to improve results there, GP to take over sets previously on Italian tasks; paper by WTC, Lt Col Sayer, recommending his complete control of GPO stations and their ultimate transfer to the FO, DD (C) to lose his authority over such stations May 29; paper by AD (S) on dispute between GPO, BTM Letchworth and BP on building of high speed Bombes, Fish and counting machines; AD (S) to Chairman YC on employment of Belgian Sigint unit in N Africa, unit to be employed on low priority tasks May 30; Lt Col Sayer to Chairman YC, Brigadier Harris, on disagreement with MI-8 on policy on Sigint channels May 25, May 30 AD (S) to Chairman on RAF aspects of same subject; liaison with AM, WO, Kilindini, BBC, ETOUSA, South Africa and with both Major Stevens in Washington and EWT still visiting that capital, GCCS recommends no further broadening of Sigint liaison with South Africa; correspondence with Acting Director CBME and other authorities in ME and N Africa, no decision yet on closing down CBME, German teleprinter captured at Bizerta to be sent to UK, ETA May 31; BBC at Tatsfield to submit DF requests to DF Exchange at Beaumanor May 21; Allied Sigint plans May 29 for Operation Husky the invasion of Sicily planned for July; paper by Lt Col Forrer on role of tactical Sigint in Operation Torch, N African campaign, Nov 1942-May 1943; Russian intercept by Poles no longer required by Cheadle, May 22; BP report, destruction of teleprinter cable between Italy and Sicily results in breakable E messages on W/T May 21, 6 IS W/T I reports ZIP/TH and ZIP/FR to be amalgamated into new ZIP/6IS series May 26
