May 1 Lt Col Sayer to take over BP comms in addition to cover control duties; 2 papers, probably by WG Welchman of Hut 6, arguing against US duplication of BP E work and protesting over US construction of E code-breaking equipment contrary to agreed position with BP; AD (S) to C May 7 objecting to MI-6 plan, probably originated by HNS to Admiralty, to sabotage German teleprinter comms, all future such suggestions to be forwarded to C via DD (S); paper by AW Bonsall to HAS suggesting ways of thwarting future night raids on London by GAF fighter-bombers; AS tables illustrating typical GAF low-grade codes May 8; liaison with Washington, Kilindini, FO, AM and WO, ME Sigint units to give up personnel to boost Sigint units in N Africa, liaison between French Sigint unit in Algiers and 380 WU, trials at Derna for MF intercept of Balkan targets, MI-8 plans for new large Sigint station in UK; correspondence with Acting Director CBME Major Dryden; Sigint expansion program figures for home and abroad as at May 1, total Army Sigint positions excluding India and W Africa May 2, Sigint training at Newbold, best Sigint operators at Army stations to be selected for supervisors' course to start at Shenley May 17 as part of expansion program; report by Lt Col Crankshaw at BP on German Armies facing the Allies on Western Front based on W/T TA May 10; Weekly Sigint Report from ME for period May 1-7
