UKUSA Sigint relations: cooperation with FBI on UKUSA intercept and processing of comms from German agents in US, July 17 1940; cautious reply from C to British Military Attaché in Washington on Sigint liaison with US, US keen to exchange but UK less so,PM may have to decide on future UK exchange policy, 22 Nov 1940; US Army and Navy keen to establish Sigint cooperation with UK, US Joint Services delegation to leave for UK under strictest secrecy bringing Sigint processing equipment with them, Dec 18 1940; US Army/Navy Sigint delegation to arrive in UK Feb 4 1941 on board HMS King George V en route from Halifax; M/S letter from Lt RH Weeks (USN) of departing US Sigint delegation to AGD, then Head of GCCS, agreeing need for extreme secrecy in UKUSA Sigint relations, comms with GCCS to be conducted through US Naval Attaché, similar note from AGD on achievements so far and approval for full UKUSA Sigint cooperation in future, Mar 3 1941; signed list from Lt Weeks containing details of some 30 Sigint documents and working aids received from GCCS, Mar 19; list of some 20 Sigint documents and working aids sent by Capt HG Hayes of US Signals Corps to GCCS via DNI Admiral Godfrey, July 8 1941; policy statements, conference minutes and other documents supporting AGD's historical visit to Washington, New York and Ottawa, Aug 12-Sept 4 1941 for discussions on CANUKUS Sigint exchange, contributions from C, PM's approval for full Sigint exchange with US, frequent signals between AGD in North America and EWT at BP; AGD asks C whether in view of increased UKUSA cooperation GCCS should stop processing US diplomatic comms, Sept 29 1941; AGD writes to C suggesting that both US Ambassador London and British Ambassador Washington should receive diplomatic Sigint messages of interest to them, Oct 28 1941; AGD writes to C concerning reply to Capt E Hastings, RN, UK Sigint and MI-6 representative in Washington, on recent events in Ottawa, Canadians replacing Yardley, Head of their Sigint organisation, now regarded as persona non-grata and handicap to Canadian Sigint relations with US, UK to replace Yardley with a GCCS man in response to Canadian request, Oct 28 1941; report by AGD Oct 31 1941 on his visit to US; copy of Denniston's trip report sent to Rear Admiral AJL Murray, Chairman of YC, Nov 3-4 1941; letter to C probably from Capt E Hastings in Washington stating that US Army and Navy not satisfied with UKUSA exchanges to date, claiming them to be one-sided in favour of British, Nov 27 1941, reply from C on Dec 1 but Hastings counters on Dec 2 that US still dissatisfied; AGD to Hastings Dec 5 attempting to put record straight on UKUSA exchange, claims full cooperation by GCCS; paper by AGD on Sigint situation in Ottawa, Dec 12 1941
