COAL 42
1940-1987
This series consists of books containing copies of the memoranda of agreements, arbitration awards and decisions, recommendations and interpretations relating to national questions concerning wages and conditions of employment in the British coal mining industry.
Prior to the appointment of the National Coal Board in July 1946, the memoranda of agreements were signed by the Mining Association of Great Britain and the National Union of Mineworkers (formerly the Mineworkers Federation of Great Britain) and between constituent associations of those bodies; after July 1946 they are signed by the National Coal Board/British Coal Corporation and the appropriate trade unions.
The memoranda were published annually.
Records of the Mining Association of Great Britain are in COAL 11
