The series contains private office papers on various subjects including the functions and organisation of the Colonial Office, appointments of governors and other officials and visits to and development of the colonies. There are also files relating to the League of Nations, the International Tin Agreement and the Imperial Communications Advisory Committee together with correspondence with various governors and semi-official correspondence. Though the papers are unregistered many of those files originating with Sir Thomas Lloyd, Permanent Under Secretary for the colonies 1947-1956, do retain departmental references.
