Commission, interrogatories and certificates relating to Exchequer suits between Sir Thomas Denton, plaintiff, and Sir Richard Ingoldesby and others, defendants. The commission, dated 29 November 1619, ordered William Tothill to resolve the disputes between the parties. Tothill's response is attached, stating that the main disputes involved problems with a highway between Hillesden and Padbury (Buckinghamshire), a disputed interest in a seat in the church of Buckingham, and tithes in Denton's manor of Prebend End with Gawcott and the defendant's hamlet of Lenborough (Buckinghamshire). Further documents relating to an earlier attempt to settle the latter dispute are also attached, as is a list of interrogatories to be administered to Ingoldesby concerning his appearance at Lincoln's Inn to present his title to lands in Hillesden. This item was formerly at E 134/18Jas1/Mich28, and was transferred to this piece at some point before 1912.
