Description

Commission of inquiry into wood and underwood growing on Crown lands in County Durham and Northumberland, and whether Richard Brackenbury and Anthony Thorpe have cut and taken any timber. The property comprised lands in Gainford, formerly of the chantry of St Mary in Gainford parish church; burgages in the city of Durham formerly of the chantry of St John the Baptist and St John the Evangelist in the church of St Nicholas, Durham; lands in Sheraton, Monk Hesleden and Hutton Henry given for the maintenance of lights in the church of Monk Hesleden; property in Darlington, formerly held by Jervaulx Abbey; property in Denton and North Shields, Northumberland, formerly held by Tynemouth Priory; land in Denton, formerly of the preceptory of Mount St John [Felixkirk] in Yorkshire; land in Newlands formerly of the chantry of St John the Baptist in Bywell parish church; and property in Newcastle upon Tyne formerly of the chantry of St John the Baptist and St John the Evangelist in the church of St Nicholas, Newcastle upon Tyne.
