Description

Commissions, interrogatories, certificates and depositions relating to enquiries into the metes and bounds of Gawthorpe Park, Yorkshire, the manors called 'Stubhouse' and 'Tovehouse', and lands next to Eccup Moor. The documents relate to three separate enquiries, held in 1561, 1562 and 1597, and to transactions between Sir William Gascoigne the elder, Sir William Gascoigne the younger and Richard Thimbleby, esquire. A related Exchequer bill from Michaelmas term 1560 is also included. This piece includes material transferred from elsewhere in the E 178 series, namely E 178/169, E 178/2530 and E 178/2773.
