Reports by a Major [name not given] on the treatment of Protestant missions and ministers in Ireland. Accompanying the reports are letters, notes, witness statements, and three memorials.
Included are letters to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland asking for legal direction against soldiers who opened fire on a crowd of protesters including two Catholic priests involved in the Six Mile Bridge riot of 1852. Six verdicts of wilful murder were passed by the jury on soldiers.
There is also a letter from the Reverend J P Dobson, secretary to the Evangelical Alliance, asking that the authorities in Ireland are given direction to protect Protestant missions under threat from Roman Catholics.
The three memorials and accompanying letters are from two chairman of the Scottish Reformation Society including James Addison and John Finch, secretary to the Committee of the British Evangelical Alliance.
