Description

The earlier material in this series relates to the normal routine administrative business of the Irish Office which was charged with the responsibility of transmitting departmental correspondence to Dublin Castle; included therein are the King's Letter Books which contain details of royal appointments, patent and money warrants, etc. Most of the later papers are concerned with the disturbances which attended the Irish struggle for independence.

The bulk of the series was formed from material drawn from four superseded series. Also includes the papers of S G Tallents, relating to an investigation of conditions in Northern Ireland in 1922.
