Description

Scotland; Courts.

Six letters concerning small debts courts.

A letter from Charles Neaves, Sheriff of Orkney and Shetland, asking for approval to discontinue the small debts circuit courts at Sanday.

A letter from Hugh Lumsden, Sheriff of Sutherlandshire, suggesting he hold a small debts circuit court four times a year in the village of Golspie.

A letter from [Robert Higham], Sheriff of Perthshire, proposing that a small debts court be held three times a year at Dunkeld and Aberfeld, instead of four as the number of cases has dropped. He encloses copies of letters signed by the mercantile people of Dunkeld and Aberfeld consenting to the sheriff's proposal, and a statement of the amount of business at the highland circuits in Dunkeld.

Three letters from Andrew Rutherford, Lord Advocate, commenting on the recommendations from Neaves, Lumsden and [Higham].
