Description

Addresses; Royal; Disturbances.

Six addresses to the Queen on various subjects in 1848 with draft responses on her behalf.

An address from the chancellor and scholars of the University of Cambridge wishing happiness to the royal family and acknowledging the excellence of national institutions, civil and religious, in preventing similar events to those that are agitation many of the governments of Europe.

A letter from Captain Hood at Notting Hill, transmitting a copy of a loyal address to the Queen from the inhabitants of Kensington, expressing satisfaction that assemblies calculated to excite terror and sedition have been prevented and suppressed.

A letter from Patrick Cluson, Moderator of the General Assembly of the Free Church of Scotland, transmitting an address from the minister and elders of the church, relative to disturbances taking place across Europe, with a response from the Queen sent by Lord Belhaven Hamilton to the Lord High Commissioner.

A letter from the mayor of Liverpool submitting the address of the mayor, aldermen and councillors of Liverpool, expressing their attachment to the Queen, the constitutional monarchy of England and its institutions.
