Three letters from the Foreign Office to the Home Secretary concerning the imprisonment of certain American citizens in Ireland.
A letter forwarding a letter from George Bancroft, American Minister, regarding the imprisonment in Ireland of an American subject named James Bergen, who was arrested at Dublin on charges unknown to him.
A second letter forwarding a copy of a letter from Lord Palmerston to Bancroft, regarding the imprisonment of James Bergen and Richard Franks Ryan, accused of treasonable practices, in connection with an attempted outbreak in Ireland, backed by certain associations in New York.
