Copies of two letters concerning prison discipline, 'Mrs Elizabeth Fry and F Lieber, Professor of Political Philosophy and Economy, of Columbia, South Carolina, upon the Separate Confinement of Prisoners,' written to the editor of the Manchester Guardian on the 24 June, and 'Sir Peter Laurie and the Solitary System,' also written to the editor, printed by Cave and Sever, Printers at 18 St Ann's Street, Manchester, and enclosed in a letter from Ashtead.
