Description

Robert son of Henry, to all his men and friends, French and English, etc. Know that I have given, and by my present charter confirmed, to Sawallus son of Peter, of Borham, for his homage and service, all the essart of my fee which is between Sagaresheia and Lea, which is named Redene; rent, 3s.; consideration, ½ mark of gersum, and to John my son and heir, a cap (j. cappam ad plumam); if my chief lord make his firstborn son a knight, or marry his firstborn daughter, and seek an aid from me, and his other free men therefore, Sewallus shall aid me according to what shall seem of right to belong to 3s. rent of that fee. Witnesses. Essex.
