Description

Counterpart indenture, made 21 June, 5 Elizabeth, being the memorandum of an agreement between Sir Rauffe Egerton of Wryne Hyll, Staffordshire and Cheshire, knight, and Robert Cowper, of Rannsall in the parish of Betteley, Staffordshire, 'yeman,' for an exchange, viz. Sir Rauffe grants to the said Robert the reversion, expectant on the decease of Dame Eleanor Brereton, widow, of a cottage, etc. in Eannsall aforesaid, in the occupation of Katharine Heywood, in exchange for the arable land of the said Robert, in the occupation of Rauf Bloore in a field called the 'Wryne,' Staffordshire and Cheshire, near the town or hamlet of 'the Wryne Hyll'; also release by the said Sir Rauf, in consideration of the said exchange, of 12d. rent from the land, etc. of the said Robert in Betteley and in Rannsall and Wryne Hyll, etc. Staffordshire. Signature of 'Robert Cowper.' Witnesses' names endorsed.
