Description

Counterpart of demise by John, the abbot, and the convent of Bukfast, to Thomas Dobbe, of the holding (tenuram) with appurtenances which William Crocker formerly held of them in their lordship of Brounston, to hold for the term of his life, at 8s. 2½d. rent; he was to do suit to all their courts there and to their mill with all his corn and malt; on his death or surrender his best beast or 7s. at their choice was to be given as heriot or farley (farlevii); on his death the said holding was to remain to Stephen his son for life, with remainder after the death of the said Thomas and Stephen to Joan wife of the said Thomas, for life. Devon. Dated in the Chapter House of Bukfast, 10 July, 34 Henry VI.
