Charter of King Henry [I] granting to the church of St George of Boscherville (Balcherii villa), and the monks thereof, for the safety of his soul and the souls of all his ancestors, the land of Weston and the church and the land of Avebury (Avesberia), with the lordship (dominio) and the land of Wintreborn and the church of Helis, in frank almoin, free from shire and hundred [courts], and hidage (hildrag') and wapentake and pleas of the justice of the king of murder (muldra) and theft, and of Danegeld and pontages, etc. Witnesses:—Bernard, bishop of St Davids, John, bishop of Lisieux, William de Tankervill the chamberlain, G[eoffrey] son of Payn, at Winchester. Wiltshire. [A.D. 1115–1129.]
