Undertaking by William de Middelton, clerk, that if Sir Adam de Strattone, clerk, should at any time be impleaded in the King's court concerning a messuage, land, and tenement, which William had in Tyteberst, in the parish of Aldenham, of the grant of Emma late the wife of Walter de Camera, and which he had granted to the said Sir Adam, and if without default of his own he should fairly lose the suit, that then the said William should be bound to pay him 30 marks within a month after notice given; with further undertaking to acquit him whether against Jew or Jewess as to any debt concerning the said premises. Hertfordshire. Tuesday after the Ascension, 1 Edward I.
