Description

Acquittance by William Chesyll for 40l. received from Sir Thomas, cardinal archbishop of York etc. and chancellor, in satisfaction of all right which the said William, and Alice his wife, in her right, would have after the death of John Walshe, Alice's brother, etc. in the manor of Andrewys in Chesthunt, co. Herts, and in a messuage and land, and a moiety of the manor of 'la Moteland' alias 'la Mote,' in Chesthunt, or in any other messuages, etc. formerly belonging to the said John in the counties named. Underwritten: Memorandum of the above acquittance being received by Robert Toneys on behalf of the said cardinal on December 1 in the above written year. Endorsed: Memorandum of enrolment on the dorse of the Close Roll in the month and year above written. Hertfordshire and Middlesex. [1] December, 11 Henry VIII.
