Confirmation by King H[enry] of the foundation by his wife, M[atilda], the queen, of the canons of Christchurch, free from all subjection except to the bishop of St. Paul's; the said canons to hold their lands, etc. freely, with sac and soc, etc. and with all their customs as well within the city as without. Witnesses:- Roger, bishop of Salisbury, and Robert, bishop of Lincoln. At Westminster, London. [Circa 1109]
