Defeasance of a release by Sir Roger de Mortymer, lord of Wygemor, to Sir Richard, earl of Arundel, of all his right in the castle, land and lordship of Chirk, which the king, supposing the said premises to belong to him by the forfeiture of Sir Roger de Mortymer, late earl of March, has granted to Sir Richard earl of Arundel; witnessing, that whereas the said Roger, lord of Wygemor, as cousin and heir to the said earl of March, is seeking to obtain the reversal of the said forfeiture, if the king or the said Sir Roger, lord of Wygemore, shall compensate the said earl of Arundel with other land of the same value, within two years after the reversal of the said forfeiture, or if the said forfeiture be affirmed, that then the said release is to be re-delivered to the said lord of Wygemor, and be void. If such compensation be not made, then after the said two years, the said release is to be delivered to the said earl of Arundel to be in force: [Denbigh.]. London, 20 March, 28 Edward III.
