Description

Release by Alice, relict of Robert le Barn, formerly citizen of Chester, to the abbot and convent of vale Royal (de Valle Regali), for 100s. paid down, of her right by way of dower to the lands and tenements her former husband sold them in Chester, except one shop which she cannot alienate during her life, but which shall revert to the convent immediately on her decease. Witnesses:- Sir John de Wethenhale, Godefrey, clerk of the castle (clerico castri), then chamberlain of Chester, and others (named) Cheshire.
